Book Projects

At least 2 high-quality book projects are due each trimester to meet the academic standard. 4 or more high-quality book projects are required to exceed the academic standard. This equates to approximately one book project turned in each month.

Except for the first book project, students will read their book project books independently. They may use books that are read both at home and at school.

Students will be required to complete a book project on one biography book each trimester.

The books read for book projects must be at least 100 pages in length. Additionally, only 1 book from an author or a series (such as Goosebumps, Babysitters Club, Harry Potter, etc.) may be read during a trimester. No Captain Underpants books will be accepted for book summary projects.

All book summary projects will need to demonstrate knowledge of the elements of a story.

Below is a link that will take you to all of the directions for the different types of book projects:

Book Project Directions

Each trimester, students must complete the following book summary projects:

 First Trimester

  • 1 PowerPoint presentation on a fiction book that is read together in class (so students will know exactly what I expect their projects to look like).
  • 1 PowerPoint presentation on a biography book that students will receive in class.

 Second Trimester

  • 1 Oral Presentation (with visual aides) to the class
  • 1 PowerPoint Presentation

 Third Trimester

  • 1 Oral Presentation (with visual aides) to the class
  • 1 PowerPoint Presentation

During the first trimester, I will structure the book summary projects so that all students can be successful & learn how to do them.
